My first attempt at sculpting a rice duck. I estimated the wrong proportion for the head and torso, so the head ended up looking way too big.

步驟
  • Wash and cook rice. Do not add too much water as we do not want the rice to be too soft and sticky.
  • Once the rice is cooked, use a spatula to loosen the rice and let it cool down.

    We will be using hand to mold the rice into various shapes so be careful not to scorch yourself.
  • While rice sits to cool, warm up the instant curry.
  • Cut some carrot pieces into the shapes shown in the picture.

    (The bottom 4 pieces)
  • Take a piece of saren wrap and moisten it with water. Get rid of any excess water, we only need the wrap to be moist, not wet.
  • Take 1/4 of all the rice and mold it into a sphere shape.

    In my attempt I used 1/3 for head and 2/3 for body. This resulted in a huge head. In hind sight I should have used 1/4 for head and 3/4 for body.
  • Take the remaining rice and mold it into an egg shape.
  • Pinch one end into the shape of a duck tail.
  • Use a chopstick to lightly dent the 'head' where the eyes and mouth are.
  • Place carrot pieces into the dented areas.
  • Pour curry onto a plate.
  • Carefully place the body onto curry.
  • Very carefully place head onto body. You would want to apply some pressure onto the head to make sure it 'sticks' to the body firmly.
  • Garnish appropriately. And we are done!!

    Be very careful when transporting this dish around. The head is very wobbly and can easily topple over.
  • Remember to take pictures of your masterpiece! :)
